Opportunity Snapshot:

  • Compensation: $25/hour
  • Location: Artesia, NM
  • Assignment Duration: 8 months
  • Work Schedule: M-F / 40 hours+

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for coordinating the scheduling and dispatching of crude oil transportation trucks to ensure efficient and timely delivery of crude oil to various destinations. Working closely with drivers, logistics teams, Crude Oil Traders, Crude Oil Schedulers, and third-party customers to optimize the transportation process and maintain high levels of operational excellence
  • Scheduling and Dispatching: Efficiently plan and coordinate the daily schedules for crude oil transportation trucks, considering factors such as crude suppliers/producers’ demand, driver availability, route optimization, and safety regulations
  • Route Optimization: Analyze delivery requirements, traffic patterns, and road conditions to develop optimal routes for truck drivers, minimizing travel time, fuel consumption, and overall costs while maximizing productivity and customer satisfaction
  • Communication: Maintain regular communication with truck drivers, logistics personnel, and crude suppliers/producers to ensure smooth operations. Provide clear instructions and updates regarding pick-up and delivery schedules, route changes, and any other relevant information
  • Monitoring and Tracking: Utilize tracking systems and software to monitor the progress of trucks, ensuring that they are operating according to the planned schedule. Address any delays, issues, or emergencies promptly to minimize disruptions and ensure on-time deliveries
  • Maintain accurate records of truck schedules, delivery confirmations, and other relevant data. Prepare reports and analyze performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement in efficiency and cost-effectiveness
  • Compliance and Safety: Adhere to all applicable regulations and safety guidelines governing the transportation of crude oil
  • Assist in identifying and resolving any scheduling conflicts, logistical challenges, or operational issues that may arise during the transportation process. Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to find practical solutions and mitigate potential disruptions
  • Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or supply chain management is preferred
  • Proven experience as a scheduler, dispatcher, or logistics coordinator, preferably in the oil and gas industryl a minimum of one year of experience required
  • Proficient with MS Office Products and applicable mainframe applications (e.g., SAP)
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.  Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, generate reports, and identify areas for process improvement
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships with drivers, crude oil suppliers/producers, and team members
  • Proficiency in scheduling software, transportation management, and GPS tracking systems
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance requirements related to crude oil transportation
  • Flexibility to work outside of regular business hours when necessary, including evenings and weekends
  • High School or GED required

Client Overview:

Our Client is a Fortune 500 company and an independent petroleum refiner that focuses primarily on producing high-value light products such as gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel, specialty lubricant products and specialty and modified asphalt.  They own and operate several refineries located primarily in Southwestern United States and market their products to this area, as well as the Rocky Mountains, extending into the Pacific Northwest and other neighboring Plains states.
