Opportunity Snapshot:

 

  • Compensation: $115K-130K/year
  • Location: Pasadena, TX
  • Assignment Duration: Direct hire, long term
  • Work Schedule: M-F / 40 hours

Responsibilities

  • Attend daily Tier meetings to understand the site’s operational issues and to report status of return to standard and/or continuous improvement activities relating to E&I.  Lead related maintenance safety and environmental compliance initiatives
  • Perform sizing and selection of instrumentation and control valves
  • Own the process safety information specific to valves and instrumentation
  • Identify opportunities for equipment upgrade due to obsolescence or poor performance and drive capital projects appropriately.  Lead research and deployment of new E&I technologies where applicable to achieve safety or business goals
  • Lead predictive & preventative instrumentation and electrical programs.  Develop specifications for new or revised equipment to match required process application performance
  • Provide technical support to operations, maintenance and capital projects as needed
  • Own the predictive/preventive maintenance programs for electrical systems which include MCCs, switch racks, breakers, starters, transformers, and power distribution both in tray and underground
  • Direct and coordinate manufacturing, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, regulations and end user requirements.  Ensure conformance to design, equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards
  • Create, update and review relevant maintenance procedures as required
  • Based on asset criticality, determine stock and non-stock spare parts
  • Work with the drafting group to ensure E&I drawings are kept accurate
  • Coordinates and directs E&I contractors
  • Work with stakeholders on scope development and equipment specification for capital projects
  • Own the training program for required electrical safety training

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering or AS degree in Electrical Engineering plus 10 years related experience
  • 5+ years applicable experience in a chemical or refinery plant
  • The successful candidate will have a well demonstrated past performance in meeting the listed responsibilities. In addition, they must be able to work well with others on a daily basis as part of a cohesive reliability team. Since this is a senior level position, a minimum of routine detailed oversite is expected
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly. Ability to make critical decisions while following company procedures.  Ability to work at a sustained pace and produce quality work, including paying attention to the minute details of a project or task
  • Ability to demonstrate conduct conforming to a set of values and accepted standards.  Ability to be truthful and be seen as credible in the workplace.  Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions
  • Ability to influence others to perform their jobs effectively and to be responsible for making decisions
  • Organizational skills and able to prioritize work, develop appropriate timelines and work to deadlines
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
