Overview

We are seeking an Equipment Operator for assignment in Ontario, Oregon. The selected candidate will perform a wide variety of public works tasks in the construction, maintenance and repair of public streets and right-of-ways.

 

Hours are Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm

 

** This position has a pay rate of $19/hr **

Responsibilities

- Operate all types of public works equipment: loaders, backhoes, dump trucks, snow plows, etc.

- Inspect, repair, and maintain public streets and rights-of-way, including street signs, pavement markings, trees, and community relation projects

- Produce a variety of records and reports relating to these activities

- Perform required labor involved in the construction and maintenance of pavement cutting, crack sealing, base repair, sidewalks, curb, gutter, and wheelchair ramps repair, tree removal, and snow removal

- Operate, maintain and perform minor repair to light and heavy equipment (backhoe, loader, chainsaws, welders, etc.)

- Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance of assigned equipment and tools by cleaning and checking equipment and tools before and after use

- Report defects or needed repairs to lead worker or supervisor

- Respond to various customer service requests and report findings to the supervisor

- Use utility locator service prior to any excavation

- Respond to after hour’s emergencies within 30 minutes

- May assist other Public Works departments as needed

- Report public hazards (potholes, fallen street signs, water leaks, etc.) to lead worker or supervisor

Qualifications

- High School Diploma or GED

- A valid Drivers License

- Some prior experience in street maintenance, road construction or tree maintenance is highly preferred

- A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) is highly preferred
