Overview

We are seeking an Electrical Designer for a remote opportunity out of Anchorage, Alaska. The selected candidate will lead their own small design projects under the guidance of our Work Group Leaders; providing complete construction drawing packages for our project assistants, coordinating with fellow designers and engineers as well as coordinating with document control for proper checkout/check-in procedures. 

 

Hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

Responsibilities

- Execute project design tasks in partnership with Electrical Engineer counterparts

- Coordinate with Electrical Engineers, Design WGL and project team to develop basic schedules

- Coordinate inter-discipline design directly with counterparts in other disciplines (such as piping and control systems)

- Work within 3D design software where applicable; contribute to and extract information from 3D model

- Perform detailed vendor document reviews and incorporate into project design

- Perform drawing and document research in client databases; coordinate with Document Control and Clients to properly find and checkout drawings

- Lead the development of detailed construction packages in accordance with codes and standards, including:

  • Process and Instrumentation Diagrams
  • Block Diagrams
  • Location and Plot Plans
  • Motor control and wiring schematics
  • Switchgear control and wiring schematics
  • Single line drawings
  • Electrical grounding, power, and lighting plan drawings
  • Electrical hazardous area classification drawings
  • Installation details
  • Heat tracing design and drawings
  • Conduit and Tray Diagrams
  • Material Take-Offs (MTO) and Bills of Material (BoMs)
  • Coordinate final package quality checks and hand-off to project assistants for formal issue
  • Perform quality checks on ones’ own work
  • Ensure projects and work processes adhere to Project Services Quality System (PSQS)

Qualifications

- 5+ years experience in Electrical Design on Oil and Gas, Refining and/or Petrochemical Plant projects

- Proficient in AutoCAD 2010 (or newer) software

- Experience developing construction packages for small to medium projects ($1MM to $30MM TIC)

- Proficient designing wiring, conduit and cable tray systems for NEC-hazardous classified areas
