We put the unity in "opportunity."
Opportunity Snapshot:
We are seeking a knowledgeable Quality Technician with a strong background in instrumentation and controls to support the Quality Department in overseeing maintenance, inspection, and vendor activities at our Client Facility. This role focuses on ensuring the quality and reliability of instrumentation and control systems during installation, calibration, troubleshooting, repair, and testing. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with field instrumentation, control systems, and industrial electrical practices. While primarily field based, the role also includes occasional visits to supplier facilities to oversee instrumentation repairs, calibrations, and equipment rebuild activities.
Key Responsibilities:

Validate all work against engineering requirements, design drawings, and OEM specifications.
- Work Package Review: Review instrumentation and controls job plans and associated quality documentation to ensure all QA and QC requirements are captured before field execution. Confirm vendor documentation, calibration sheets, loop checks, and testing records meet client standards and are performed according to client procedures.
- Shop and Vendor Oversight: Provide QA support during instrumentation repair, testing, or calibration activities at vendor facilities when required. Verify proper teardown practices, reassembly techniques, device configuration, and calibration procedures.
- As Found and As Built Documentation: Ensure accurate recording of device conditions during inspection, removal, installation, and testing. Confirm alignment between field conditions, drawings, datasheets, loop sheets, and documentation.
- Procedure Adherence: Monitor execution of I and C field work to ensure compliance with approved procedures, industry standards, and client practices. Support the development and revision of procedures related to instrumentation and controls quality.
- Deficiency Tracking: Identify and document workmanship issues or deviations from standards. Raise punch items or NCRs when required and support the resolution of issues both onsite and at vendor facilities.
- Cross Functional Support: Work closely with Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, Planning, and Reliability to ensure instrumentation and controls quality throughout the work lifecycle. Serve as a technical liaison for QA support across all units.
- Continuous Improvement: Provide recommendations for improving inspection practices, documentation quality, vendor performance, and instrumentation work execution based on field observations and supplier findings.
- Experience: 10+ years of experience working with instrument and controlsequipment in an industrial environment strongly preferred.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of transmitters, switches, control valves, positioners, analyzers, PLC and DCS systems, and industrial wiring practices. Familiar with applicable standards including ISA, API, NEC, NFPA, and IEEE.
Preferred/Value-Add:
- CCST
- API related certifications
- VT Level II
- Instrumentation or controls related QA or QC certifications
- Precision calibration or advanced controls training
Software Proficiency: Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and SAP. Experience with work package or QA tracking systems is a plus.
Field Work: Able to work in outdoor industrial environments and support activities in active units. Occasional travel to vendor facilities may be required.
