Overview

We are seeking a Water / Wastewater Utility Worker for assignment in Mary Esther, Florida. The selected candidate will perform a variety of tasks in the operations and maintenance of water and wastewater collection systems on an assigned shift.

 

Hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

 

** This position may have an on-call schedule **

** This position has a pay rate of $17 - $19/hr **

Responsibilities

- Perform activities related to water and wastewater system maintenance; including water quality and water supply

- Inspect, install, repair, replace and test water mains, water services, water meters, fire hydrants, backflow protection devices and other related water system assets

- Inspect, install, repair and replace sewer lines, lateral cleanouts, manholes and collection mains; operates cleaning and video equipment on sewer lines to determine system deficiencies and other related wastewater system assets

- Read water meters manually

- Set up work zones and assist in managing work zone safety

- Inspect sewer lift stations; ensure SCADA alarms are communicating; conduct visual inspections of wet wells and pump cycling and float conditions

- Respond to service orders related to line locations; mark water and wastewater infrastructures

- Perform customer service work orders related to water/wastewater infrastructure; interacts with the public in a professional manner

- Provide courteous customer service; responds to questions and inquiries from general public

- Timely complete work orders, forms, records and other associated paperwork both manually and digitally

- Operate heavy machinery, including dump truck, vactor truck, and backhoe, as well as other related equipment

- Perform basic preventative maintenance of heavy machinery; greasing, fluid level checks, pre-trip inspections, etc.

- Perform work in confined spaces; takes appropriate precautions prior to entering confined spaces with use of air quality monitors and ventilators

- Log and/ or interpret meter and gauge readings to determine pump performance and condition

- Maintain accurate logs of repairs and maintenance completed

- Clean and maintain equipment in the wastewater pumping system

- Serve in emergency standby capacity and/or on-call, after hours, including holidays and weekends

- Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

- High School DIploma or GED

- A valid Drivers License

- Familiarity with hand and power tools
