We are seeking a Structural Engineer 5 for assignment in Tempe, Arizona. The selected candidate will perform all conventional aspects of Structural engineering and analysis.


Hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm


- Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria

- Exercises sound engineering judgement and problem solving skills

- Expertise in principles and practices of seismic design, including ability to apply required provisions of the building code

- Exhibits high level of attention to detail and quality control:

- Highly proficient in and committed to checking own work

- Highly focused on quality, ensuring conformance with established structural standards, project standards, and project delivery processes

- Able to review and evaluate building construction documents for accuracy and full compliance with client design standards, company standards, and all local jurisdiction code requirements

- Takes responsibility for managing workload, making and keeping commitments, and taking full ownership of assigned work:

- Takes complete ownership of their portion of the structural scope, reliably meeting schedule, budget, and quality requirements

- May be given tasks with ill-defined conditions of satisfaction, in which case the individual will be expected to take the initiative to determine what is needed to meet the project and client needs

- Clearly define own scope and be able to forecast level of effort needed to complete that scope. Be ready to identify scope change and escalate it to Structural Lead or Project Manager.

- Ask for help when needed, and delegate to other engineers when appropriate

- Able to work in a timely, accurate, and cost effective manner with strong attention to detail

- Possesses excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills

- Developing leadership skills:

- Provides technical coaching, mentorship, and/or training to develop less experienced engineers.

- Proactive in advancing workflows, systems, and tools within the structural discipline. Embraces emerging technologies.

- Established reputation as a regional Subject Matter Expert and Quality Reviewer

- Able to independently support Business Development pursuits for large projects

- Able to support work for/in other offices (possibly including Temporary Duty Assignments)

- As a Lead Structural Engineer for an assigned project:

- Lead a small team of Structural Engineers and Designers in the development of calculations, specifications, construction drawings, and the structural model

- Fully understand all structural scope, recognize how that scope is both generated and impacted by other disciplines, and identify scope change

- Develop and manage schedule, budget, and staffing forecasts for the structural scope

- Attends project meetings and takes an active role to help team resolve concerns and solve problems across all disciplines

- May be asked to act as the stamping Engineer of Record

- Take ultimate responsibility for all aspects of the deliverables, including calculations and all construction documents

- Participates in and champions internal, cross-discipline, and external project quality reviews


- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis in Structural Engineering

- Professional Structural Engineer License (SE)

- 15 years of experience in structural engineering

- Expertise in designing and analyzing traditional steel and concrete structures

- Expertise in analyzing structures using Finite Element Analysis software

- Mastery of US building codes including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, and AISC



- MS degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is preferred

- Experience in Semi-conductor industrial or general industrial facilities is preferred

- Experience with STAAD, Navisworks, and Bluebeam is preferred
