Overview

We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer for assignment in Cincinnati, Ohio. The selected candidate will be under the direction of a senior engineer, or engineering manager, performing engineering and project assignments.

 

Hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

Responsibilities

- Develop MCC and Switchgear specifications

- Develop one line diagrams and schematics

- Perform load calculations in accordance with the NEC and able to select distribution system components

- Cable Tray System Design including Sizing and Routing Plans

- Design of interior and exterior, normal and emergency lighting

- Building grounding and lightning protection system design

- Medium and low voltage service and power distribution

- Low voltage motor control

- Schematic level design of special system including Fire Alarm, Controls, Communications, Security

- Protective device coordination studies

- Prepares engineering specifications, data sheets, sketches, drawings and performs calculations in support of engineering activities involving power and control distributions systems

- Gathers and records information to be used for preparing technical performance specifications

- Reviews vendor information to assure compliance with specifications

- Performs equipment selection and prepares purchase requisitions

- Prepares reports, studies, and calculations

- Makes field trips and conducts field audits of existing installations and participate in systems' start-up and commissioning

- Possesses an outgoing and positive attitude, is dependable and meets all assigned project deadlines

- Independently evaluates the selection and/or modification of standard techniques, procedures, criteria and systems to efficiently meet project goals

- Applies standard engineering tasks and exhibits a working knowledge of applicable codes

- Develops planning, scheduling and coordinating detailed phases of engineering work

- Reviews and generates design data from P&ID's

- Coordinates details and miscellaneous design criteria with other disciplines            

Qualifications

- BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical & Computer Engineering; or a related field

- Proficiency in MS Windows, Office, Access, VISIO, AutoCAD and other related software packages

- EIT or P.E. registration

- Electrical Equipment modeling in 3D Design Packages

- An understanding of short circuit calculations, electrical systems and coordination studies, and familiarity with NEC, NFPA, IEEE and other industry codes and standards is preferred

- Working Knowledge and project experience with SKM is preferred
