Overview

We are currently seeking a Supervisor Specialist Safety for a long- term contract position with a leading midstream services firm in Chico, TX. Our client owns, operates, acquires and develops midstream energy assets.

Responsibilities

This position has the primary responsibility for overseeing safety compliance and the implementation of our clients ES&H management systems to ensure protection of human health. The position works directly with engineering, operations, and corporate ES&H on new projects, ongoing compliance, and local advocacy.

 

- Provide leadership to each Safety & Health professional reporting to the position, including routine direction in the achievement Safety and Health goals and objectives, performance reviews, and professional development of each direct report.
- Advise management, operations, and project/maintenance teams as required to assure compliance with federal, state, local and corporate rules and regulations pertaining to employee health and safety.
- Organize, plan, implement, and audit the Safety & Health programs and policies for the area assets, ensuring compliance as required by regulatory agencies and corporate policy.
- Provide leadership and coordination around implementation of the regional PSM and RMP programs.
- Planning and leadership of routine Safety Meetings and Site Specific Training for the area assets.
- Monitoring the Safety & Health compliance of large contract and construction crews.
- Provide Safety & Health support during non-routine and high-risk operational events, including shutdowns, confined space entries, and other high priority operational tasks.
- Evaluate working conditions and recommend improvements in Safety & Health methods, practices, and procedures.
- Respond to Safety & Health incidents, report as appropriate in accordance to company policy, and lead investigations to determine root causes and complete appropriate corrective actions.
- Assure that various required reports are filed with appropriate agencies in accordance with applicable Safety & Health regulations and regulatory agency permits for the area assets.
- Conduct formal and informal audits of physical facilities and Safety & Health compliance related programs and procedures, and ensure resulting corrective actions are tracked to completion.
- Plan and lead Emergency Response drills in coordination with local emergency response agencies.

 

Qualifications

 

- BS or Associates Degree in Engineering, Safety & Health, or related technical/science field 

- 10 + years of experience in the oil and gas or petrochemical industry
- CSP, ASP, CIH or other degreed professional certifications
- Extensive knowledge of the rules and regulations of the various federal and state agencies having jurisdiction over the the clients facilities
- The physical ability to be in the plant to perform inspections and audits
- The ability to successfully pass any HAZWOPER training required for this position including use of SCBA
- Effective communication skills to work closely with regulators, inspectors, and all levels of personnel
