  • Overview

    We are seeking a Sr. Civil/Structual Engineer for assignment in Hillsboro, Oregon. The selected candidate will perform a variety of engineering work in the initial planning and design phase of equipment, systems, and/or processes. 

     

    Hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

    Responsibilities

    - This position performs a variety of engineering work in the initial planning and design phase of equipment, systems, and/or processes

    - Specifications are prepared, and necessary subcontracts and requisitions are defined

    - The incumbent has advanced knowledge of a subject area or discipline, and acts as subject matter expert

    - He/she integrates understanding of emerging business/industry trends and implications for own area

    - This is a career level position that functions as a technical specialist who develops and applies advanced engineering concepts and approaches to unique engineering problems

    - May provide some technical guidance over a group

    - Not responsible for any performance appraisals           

     

    Primary job duties include:

     

    - Without supervision competently perform all conventional aspects of Structural Engineering and analysis

    - Exhibit high level of attention to detail and quality control

    - Take responsibility for managing workload, making and keeping commitments, and taking full ownership of assigned work

    - Work in a timely, accurate, and cost-effective manner with strong attention to detail

    - Independently support Business Development pursuits for large projects

     

     This position may also require you to serve as the Lead Structural Engineer for a project:

     

    - Lead a team of Structural Engineers and Designers in the development of calculations, specifications, construction drawings, and the structural model

    - Fully understand all structural scope, recognize how that scope is both generated and impacted by other disciplines, and identify scope change

    - Develop and manage schedule, budget, and staffing forecasts for the structural scope

    - Attend project meetings and take an active role to help the team resolve concerns and solve problems across all disciplines

    - Act as the stamping Engineer of Record

    - Take ultimate responsibility for all aspects of the deliverables, including calculations and all construction documents

    - Participate in and champion internal, cross-discipline, and external project quality reviews

    Qualifications

    - Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis in Structural Engineering

    - Minimum 12 years experience providing heavy industrial civil sitework design including leading and directing activities of other civil engineers, designers, and drafters to meet project schedule

    - Candidate must have significant AutoCAD skills/capabilities including working with multiple master files, attaching and manipulating xref files, working with multiple scales, and viewports

    - Experience with underground utility design including preparing plan and profiles for roadways, railroads, water and sewer systems

    - Emphasis in supervision/preparing grading plans, performing earthwork calculations, drainage/stormwater calculations, and preparing permit applications is required

    - Ability to effectively communicate with design team members, project management, and client contacts is required

    - Multiple years experience with Civil 3D or InRoads, StormCAD, Civil Storm and other Bentley/Haestad programs is preferred
