  • Overview

    We are seeking a Wastewater Operator-in-Training for assignment in Hoboken, New Jersey. The selected candidate will perform a variety of tasks in the operations and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant on an assigned shift.

     

    Hours are Monday - Friday, 2:00pm - 10:30pm

     

    ** This is a 2nd shift position **

    ** Candidates must be willing to work weekends, holidays and overtime as required **

    ** This position typically holds or is working on a first level wastewater treatment certification **

    Responsibilities

    - Learns and gains skills involving the maintenance of equipment and servicing work in the plant

    - Operates treatment facilities to control flow and processing of water/wastewater, sludge, and effluent

    - Operates valves and gates either manually or by remote control, starts and stops pumps, engines and generators to control and adjust flow and treatment processes

    - Monitors gauges, meters, and control panels

    - Observes and reports abnormalities to supervisor

    - Maintains shift log and records meter and gauge readings

    - Collects samples and performs routine laboratory tests and analyses

    - Performs routine maintenance functions and custodial duties

    - Assists in keeping maintenance records using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), develop computer spreadsheets and use Word and Excel

    - Ability to read and interpret construction plans, prints, specifications and Operations and Maintenance Manuals

    - Performs other duties as required

    Qualifications

    - High School Diploma or GED

    - A valid Drivers License

    - Knowledge or previous experience in water/wastewater treatment and operations, or a valid wastewater treatment certification
