  • Overview

    We are seeking a Diesel Fleet Mechanic for assignment in The Villages, Florida. The selected candidate will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and major mechanical repairs on our clients company fleet vehicles.

     

    Hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

    Responsibilities

    - Ability to diagnose and repair the following with little or no supervision: Heavy duty diesel engines, manual transmissions, clutches, differentials, suspensions, PTO systems, instruments and gauges, hydraulic and air brake systems, electric systems and heating/air conditioning systems

    - Diagnoses mechanical problems and performs corrective and preventive maintenance services utilizing Factory Service Manuals; Typical repairs include, but are not limited to: routine maintenance and repairing diesel engines, repairing chassis and body components, hydraulic cylinders, brake systems, suspension systems, wheels and tires

    - Change oil, lubricate vehicles, check mechanical equipment, batteries, fan belts, air and oil filters, wiper blades, headlights, lamps, tires, and tubes

    - Reviews and completes repairs identified on repair orders; Completes all required paperwork in a timely and concise manner; Maintain accurate, updated preventive maintenance records in a computerized maintenance system 

    - Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs

    - Ability to perform complete component removal, disassembly, and reconditioning following Technical Manual procedures

    - Road tests vehicles to troubleshoot problems and/or test repairs to ensure proper and safe completion

    - Communicate with managers/drivers as to issues with vehicles and discuss preventive techniques that minimize future repairs

    - Conducts routine safety checks on vehicles and equipment

    - Performs all other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    - High School Diploma or GED

    - A valid Drivers License

    - Basic computer skills

    - Minimum 3 - 4 years experience working on heavy trucks and diesel engines
