  • Overview

    We are currently looking for a Machinist for an established Berwick, LA based manufacturing and engineering services company.  Our client is a leading provider of flow equipment products, systems and services for the oil, gas and process industries. 

    Responsibilities

    - Operate one type of machine to perform highly routine/repetitive work with minimal supervision

    - Proficiently use all required measuring instruments

    - Operate overhead crane, forklift, and other capacity lifting equipment safely

    - Use computer systems to retrieve relevant work documents such as engineering drawings, routings, and other documents as they relate to machining of valves or related products

    - Review and comprehend blueprints, drawings, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of part/product, sequence of operations and/or set up requirements

    - Ability to verify correct material and heat number against internal traceability system prior to machining process

    - Ability to make own machine setups by selecting, aligning, and securing holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments,  accessories, on machines to include mills and/or lathes

    - Ability to operate assigned machine/machines safely and with no assistance

    - Recognize problems in machining process and report to appropriate supervisor and or lead person in a timely manner

    - Continually produce quality products with minimal defect rate by detecting own defects for ongoing corrective action

    - Perform internal stenciling and or marking for required traceability purposes

    Qualifications

    - High School Diploma or GED (One-year certificate from technical school/college, preferred)
    - 1+ years of manual machining experience required

    - Prior experience operating overhead crane, forklift, and other lifting devices
    - Ability to safely operate hand and/or machine tools

    - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

    - Ability to calculate figures and amounts (angles, lengths, diameters in decimals and fractions)
