  • Overview

    We are currently seeking a Electrical Engineer for a direct position with a leading midstream services firm in Midland, TX. Our client owns, operates, acquires and develops midstream energy assets.

    Responsibilities

    The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for: 

     

    - Specifying, evaluating and selecting electrical engineered and specialty equipment for operations and major/complex projects.

    - Preparing technical bids and/or proposal evaluations and recommendations.

    - Evaluating, preparing and analyzing designs of electrical systems including power generation, utility inter-ties, distribution, motor/plant logic, control systems, lighting, emergency power, supplies, grounding, alarm and safety shutdown systems.

    - Reviewing and/or negotiating utility contracts with outside vendors.

    - Providing technical assistance in the form of written reports, consultation, research, electrical system studies, National Electrical Code interpretations, recommendations and utility contracts.

    - Preparing highly detailed short circuit, motor starting, voltage drop, load shedding and relay coordination studies as needed to ensure plant reliability and personnel safety.

    - Ensuring that company standards and strategies comply with the latest industry practices, safety, environmental and process safety management requirements.

    - Developing and maintaining electrical engineering specifications and facility electrical area classification drawings.

    - Investigating plant uses for improved energy conservation.

    - Directing work and reviews outside engineering contractors' designs, studies, drawings and material selections to ensure conformance with client specifications and standards.

    - Investigating and resolving problems associated with new or existing facilities and their electrical design.

    - Preparing budgetary and AFE quality cost estimates in addition to technical scopes of work.

    - Participating in technical and industry conferences, making presentations when requested.

    - Supervising fieldwork and small projects in terms of coordinating activities, monitoring the budget, and ensuring timely and accurate completion of multiple tasks at one time. 

    Qualifications

    - Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university and 3 to 5  years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

    - Control experience is preferred.

    - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; sit; use hands to handle or feel items; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. May require frequent off-site day trips and/or overnight travel.
