  • Overview

    We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer- Controls and Automation for a direct position with a leading midstream services firm in Houston, TX. Our client owns, operates, acquires and develops midstream energy assets.

    Responsibilities

    The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for: 

     

    - Being the Technical Engineer of the Controls and Automation portion of larger projects.

    - Coordinating C&A activities of projects with the Technical Services Team.

    - Developing/reviewing power distribution 1-lines, SIS/PCS/ESD control systems, Control systems narratives, area classification, instrumentation specifications, and facility layout.

    - Coordinating, reviewing, and supervising C&A design work done by Engineering contractors.

    - Maintaining automation programming for plant PLCs in order to be able to support and modify programming if needed.

    - Participating in PHA, MOC’s, and Hazops.

    - Providing technical expertise and support for project construction and commissioning phases to include control system programming and configuration, factory and site acceptance testing, communications, loop checks, and safety testing.

    - Working closely with project managers regarding C&A material and man-power budgets, and technical knowledge for major projects.

    - Producing costs estimates for C&A work.  Track project costs and forecast to-go costs.

    - Writing procedures, organize work flow, and maintain schedules.

    Qualifications

    - Engineering degree from four-year college or university and 3 to 5  years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

    - Technically competent with Wonderware ArchestrA HMI preferred. 

    - Technically competent with Wonderware InTouch HMI preffered.

    - Experience working with Allen Bradley PLC programs preferred. 

    - Experience working with Delta V or equivalent DCS systems preferred. 

    - Technically competent with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project.

    - Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.

    - Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

    - Reacts to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently.

    - Flexible during times of change.

    - Persuasive, encouraging, and motivating (in communications with others including company employees and contract workers).

    - Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departments.

    - Strong written and oral communication skills.

    - Strong interpersonal skills.

    - Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and finding equipment needed for a project.

    - Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.

    - Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.
