  • Overview

    We are seeking a Lead Piping Engineer for assignment in Houston, Texas. The selected candidate will act as a Lead Engineer, responsible for managing the piping engineering activities and deliverables associated with larger capital EPC projects in excess of 1 billion dollars.

     

    Hours are Monday - Thursday, 7:00am - 6:00pm

     

    ** The manager for this position is only interested in candidates local to Houston ** 

    Responsibilities

    - Lead Engineer responsible for managing the piping engineering activities and deliverables associated with larger capital EPC projects in excess of 1 billion dollars

    - Accountability for all pipe engineering activities, self-starting work ethic/approach, and excellent, consistent communication is required

    - Responsible for developing preliminary estimates and scope to support project/process development

    - Manage man-hour budgets to address trends (PDNs) to scope, schedule, productivity, etc.

    - Develop effort hour estimates and scope documents to support project definition

    - Participate in developing overall EPC schedule for piping engineering as well as assessing the progress of the piping engineering effort and managing the budget

    - Responsible for managing piping tag quantities and bulk material

    - Coordinate the review of vendor drawings and data used for oil, gas, and petrochemical processing facilities. Must be able to communicate detailed design issues effectively with suppliers, clients, and other engineering disciplines

    - Coordinate and cooperate with discipline lead engineers to ensure the smooth flow of all information on the project task force, and to ensure alignment with project requirements

    - Consults with Department Manager and Subject Matter Experts on technical problems, staffing requirements, and schedule issues relating to project commitments for deliverables

    - Monitor progress and performance of personnel on project team to assure quality and consistency for all deliverables

    - Demonstrates customer focus in all actions

    - Ensure adherence to industry codes and standards as well as department work instructions, specifications, and standards for assigned project

    - Continually assists with monitoring project staffing requirements to align with project needs

    - Facilitates weekly project team update meeting

    - Serve as Supervising Engineer, providing guidance/supervision to other engineers and function as mentor to less experienced engineers

    - Participate in 3D Model reviews

    - Interface directly with Work-share ‘offshore’ offices to ensure piping engineering scope is fully conveyed, and to ensure quality/consistency for all deliverables

    - Must assist in the development and update of discipline standards and procedures

    - Travel, as required, to ensure the successful execution of projects           

    Qualifications

    - Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

    - 15 to 25 years of experience in the EPC industry supporting oil, gas and petrochemical processing facilities

    - Must have proven leadership experience associated on large-cap lump sum projects

    - Must have experience in piping speciations to support the model, piping flexibility stress analysis, line list support, SP Item support, piping material take-offs of piping bulks and tagged items

    - Experience with Smart Plant Suite of Tools i.e. SPPID, SPRD, S3D

    - Must have knowledge of ASME B31.3 Process Piping Code, API design standards

    - Construction work process / site experience; Able to perform job walks wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) in an operating facility    

    - Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

    - PE registration desired
