  • Overview

    We are seeking a Fire Systems Technician for assignment in Atlanta, Georgia. The selected candidate will support a team engaged in critical testing, inspection and servicing of fire suppression systems, as well as corrective and preventive system maintenance tasks vital to the safe operation of our facility.

     

    Hours are Monday - Friday, 10:00pm - 6:00am

     

    ** This is a 3rd shift position **

    Responsibilities

    - Ensure fire suppression systems operate effectively within NFPA, state of Georgia, city of Atlanta Fire Marshal and client requirements

    - Proficient at hands-on troubleshooting, testing, inspection, servicing, preventative maintenance and repair on all wet, dry, pre-action and deluge systems, fire pumps, tamper and flow switches, pressure gauges, accelerators and other components of fire suppression systems with minimal supervision from the fire protection superintendent

    - Support and mentor other technicians on the testing, inspection, servicing, preventative maintenance and repair of wet, dry, pre-action and deluge systems

    - Independently, as well as through small teams, conduct troubleshooting and repairs on fire suppression systems

    - Clearly communicate direction to other technicians, management team and client representatives as needed

    - Oversee, coordinate and assist with client’s utility shutdown processes that may impact fire system performance

    - Record, maintain and evaluate fire system test data

    - Assist with asset data collection required to ensure proper fire suppression system location and equipment information remains current in INFOR Enterprise Asset Management System

    - Use, care for and be responsible for tools and equipment used to complete the testing, servicing, preventative maintenance, repair and operations to fire systems and equipment at the facility

    - Manage outside contractors on behalf of the client to complete special projects in support of the testing, servicing, preventative maintenance, repair and operations of fire suppression systems and equipment at the facility

    - Ensures outside contractor work is compliant with job, safety and code requirements

    - Advanced ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, vendor data and technical data sheets

    - Well-versed in the general operations and safety practices and policies, as well as specific knowledge of procedures and standards applicable to the fire craft technical and safety policies

    - Advanced knowledge of operations of pumps, accelerators, switches, gauges, smoke detector modules and other fire system components

     

    Qualifications

    - 5+ years related experience in the field of Fire Suppression is required

    - Experience working with Notifier or similar systems is required

    - 3+ years experience working with low voltage electrical systems is required

    - NFPA 25 Level 1 within 1 year or comparable certifications

    - Proficient knowledge of NFPA 25 and NFPA 13

    - A NICET II/III Certification is highly preferred
