Overview

We have an opening for a I&E Controls Engineer to work in the Pasadena, TX area.

 

 

Our client is one of the largest oil field service companies with operations in more than 70 countries. It's major business segment is the Energy Services Group offering a broad array of producs and services to upstream oil and gas customers worldwide through multiple product service lines.

Responsibilities

 - Responsible for maintaining, modifying, and continued development of the Foxboro based Distributed Control System (DCS)

 - Responsible for the monitoring, troubleshooting and improvement of the Plants Control system

 - Emphasis on developing standard controls documentation across the asset such as Cause & Effect, Input/output mapping, and other programming needs.

 - Aspects of the role includes supporting the installation, commissioning, and operation of the facilities, as well as assistance to site turnarounds and startup / shutdown events

 - Work closely with manufacturing site personnel, process engineering, and the business stakeholders to identify opportunities and define scope, cost, benefits, and project schedule for both new and revamped applications

 - Identify and recommend changes to instrument, control processes, and equipment to improve cost/quality/schedule associated with related projects.

 - Lead MOC for changes within the plant

 - Develops risk plans for equipment obsolescence and recommendations for path(s) forward

 - Ability to troubleshoot control systems from the field element up through operator interfaces and databases

 - Knowledge of power system design and troubleshooting and MCC design

 - Ability to create and update I/O (input/output) list, wiring diagrams, electrical one-line diagrams, electrical load lists, instrumentation lists, cable schedules, MCC/distribution and instrument panel layouts, P&IDs, and plot plans

 - Advanced knowledge of installation and operations troubleshooting for specified I&E equipment. I.e. pressure/temperature/flow instrumentation

 - Project Management for Instrument and Control specific projects.

 - Ensure compliance of I&E/C systems with Client Corporate and Industry standards.

Qualifications

 - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical or chemical Engineering Preferred

 - 5yr or more of chemical plant or refining experience

 - Greater than 3 years of practical experience designing and implementing effective control, automation, abnormal event detection, modeling and/or optimization applications in support of petrochemical, or manufacturing facilities through experiences including monitoring, troubleshooting, asset support, projects and turnarounds

 - Strong technical background in advanced process control and optimization. Successful candidates will demonstrate innovative thinking, strong initiative, and exemplary communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with peers across organizational boundaries, and in diverse teams.

 - Demonstrated understanding of fundamental chemical engineering principles, process dynamics and feedback control in a plant with batch operations; an understanding of instrumentation, measurements, analyzers and other sensors.

 - Strong written and Communication skills

 - Demonstrate excellent decision-making skills and ability to prioritize appropriately
