Overview

We are seeking a Water / Wastewater Utility Worker for assignment in Pembroke Pines, Florida. The selected candidate will be responsible for maintenance and repairs to the water distribution and sanitary sewer collection system on an assigned shift.

 

Hours are Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm

 

** this position has an on-call aspect to it which requires candidates to reside within 30 minutes of the project site in order to respond to emergencies within a 1 hour window **

Responsibilities

- Locating, installing, maintaining and repairing water mains, sanitary sewers and other specialized duties that will require knowledge of water and wastewater systems, plumbing and pipe fitting practices

- Assist in activities such as installing meters

- Installing, repairing and preventative maintenance of fire hydrants & valves

- Installation and repairing leaks or breaks water distribution and sanitary sewer collection systems, cleaning and repairing connections on sanitary sewer laterals

- Operation of heavy equipment (back hoe, front end loader, Mini Excavator etc.)

- Operating televising equipment to inspect sewer laterals and mains

- Testing water quality, testing water pressure and flow rates

- Preforming preventative maintenance on fire hydrants which includes; Annual servicing, painting, flow testing as well as monthly flushing of hydrants

- Be able to use gas powered and electric tools appropriately and effectively

- Responds to after-hours emergency callouts (24/7 on-call shift)

- Responds as a member of the Emergency weather/hurricane response crew/team

- Vacuum/Hydro Excavation Truck Operation (CDL Candidates Only)

- Assist in lift station cleaning, hydro excavations, Catch basin cleaning, and Wash downs

Qualifications

- High School Diploma or GED

- A valid Drivers License

- 1+ years experience working within the water/wastewater, plumbing or construction industries

- A Water Distribution System Operator Class 3 License or a Florida Water and Pollutions Control Operators Association Class C Certification in Wastewater Collections is highly preferred

- A Class B Commercial Drivers License is highly preferred
