Overview

We are seeking a Water / Wastewater Utility Worker for assignment in The Villages, Florida. The selected candidate will perform preventative maintenance tasks, maintain equipment, as well as any other duties that fall under the facility maintenance umbrella.

 

Hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

 

** This position requires a valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL) **

Responsibilities

- Perform tasks in the preventive maintenance of wastewater collection and water distribution equipment to include, but not limited to, pipe, valves, hydrants, main line flushing and repair of wastewater main lines

- Perform fire flow and pressure tests and maintains corrosion protection of water lines and valves

- Locate utility lines from drawings and maps

- Perform work in assembling, laying and aligning water distribution and/or wastewater collection service lines

- Assist in excavating and backfilling sidewalks, streets and trenches

- Expose mains and lines following safe dig practices

- Install and remove trench shoring

- Cut mains, lines and pipes, thread and bend pipes and caulk joints

- Utilize hand and power tools and equipment including, but not limited to: pavement breakers, jackhammers, earth tampers

- On occasion make customer contact concerning required repairs/service/complaints

- Inspect water meters to verify that the meter is reading accurately

- Conduct safety inspections and ensure proper maintenance of all vehicles and equipment

- Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

- High School Diploma or GED

- A valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL)

1+ years experience in water utility operations, plumbing or heavy equipment operation (backhoe, trackhoe or loaders)

- Familiarity with hand and power tools
