Overview

We are seeking an Instrument and Controls Technician for assignment in The Villages, Florida. The selected candidate will  Inspect, test, adjust, and repair electric, electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic instruments and systems used to indicate, record, and control liquid distribution systems in a water/wastewater utility environment.

 

Hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

 

** This position requires working knowledge of Allen Bradley SLC 500 series and Compact Logic series PLC’s **

Responsibilities

- Inspects, tests, adjusts, and repairs electric, electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic instruments and systems used to indicate, record, and control liquid distribution systems in a water/wastewater utility environment. Inspects meters, indicators, and gauges to detect abnormal fluctuation

- Tests accuracy of flowmeters, pressure gauges, temperature indicators, controllers, and other recording, indicating or controlling instruments to locate defective components in system, using test equipment, such as pressure gauges, potentiometers, pulse and signal generators, megometers, and ammeters, voltmeters, and wattmeters

- Traces out and tests programmable logic controller circuitry and components to locate defective parts in analog and digital, protection, or other monitoring systems, using test equipment, schematics, and maintenance manuals

- Removes defective instruments from system, repairs and/or replaces defective parts, using handtools

- Reassembles instruments and replaces instruments in system, using handtools

- Lubricates instruments and replaces defective wiring and tubing

- Calibrates readings on instruments according to standards and adjusts phasing and aligns stages to ensure accuracy of recording and indicating function

- Records calibrations made, parts and components used, and inventory of parts on hand

- Prepares schematic drawings, sketches, and reports to reflect changes or alterations made in instruments, circuits, and systems

Qualifications

- High School Diploma or GED 

- A valid Florida Driver's License

- Working knowledge of Allen Bradley SLC 500 series and Compact Logic series PLC’s

- Ability to test and troubleshoot 4-20 MA circuitry

- Ability to read, troubleshoot, and write ladder logic circuitry, and to document changes to programming

- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and distribution circuit maps
