Overview

We have an opening for a Sr. Environmental Specialist to work in the Dallas, TX to fill a direct hire position.

Responsibilities

The Sr. Environmental Specialist will support the corporate and local operating teams' environmental, health, and sustainability efforts.  The candidate will manage and serve as a subject matter expert in air, water, and waste, focusing on regulatory and compliance programs, environmental site assessments, remediation projects, ESG, and emission reduction projects.  This position will report to the Director of HSE and will be based on-site in the Irving, TX office, with some travel required to our field offices.

 

 - Manage all environmental compliance programs, including:

           - OOOO/OOOOa/OOOOb, GHG, Tier II, and emissions inventories

 - Collaborate with field teams to arrange third-party environmental compliance contractor/consultants work on location in conformance with Client policies 

 - Develop and assist with the implementation of emissions reduction projects

 - Communicate environmental and regulatory requirements and practices to internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with agency rules and regulations

 - Reviews new and updated legislation, regulations, and Client requirements, advising on the appropriate response to support continued compliance

 - Manage environmental permit acquisition and compliance monitoring for all facilities and projects in the local area of responsibility

 - Participate in and collaborate with applicable external environmental and regulatory workgroups and committees

 - Lead environmental initiatives and participate in deploying programs on critical environmental matters that align with Client ESG efforts

 - Facilitate and lead environmental compliance database data quality improvements and business process flow standardization

 - Assist with local site assessments and remediation projects

 - Provide project management, including preparing budgets, requests for proposals, work orders, and supervision of contractors

 

Qualifications

 - Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental, Applied Sciences, or equivalent experience in lieu of degree

 - Ideally 7+ years of experience in Oil and Gas with environmental permitting, assessment, consulting, compliance, and remediation practices

 - Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record to drive Company and personal vehicles to perform required tasks

 - Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills

 - Aptitude for recognizing, recommending, and implementing process improvements

 - Self-motivated, team player, comfortable working under pressure, and dedicated to team development

 - Ability to work effectively across departments, with all levels of the organization, to prioritize workload and work with minimal supervision

 - Effective communication skills and the ability to work with field personnel, office staff, and regulatory agencies

 

Core Competencies:

 - Must possess a working understanding/familiarity of the following environmental principles and concepts:

       - Spill response, clean-up, and reporting

       - SPCC Compliance

       - Air regulations including: permitting, OOOO/OOOOa/OOOOb, flares, and nonattainment.

      - E&P Waste Management (drill cuttings, fluids, spill wastes, water recycling)

      - Familiarity with air compliance of oil/gas facilities

      - Site reclamation and weed control

      - Stormwater Management

 - Must possess a strong field experience background and have strong independent decision-making abilities

 - Related professional regulatory or EHS experience in the oil and gas industry preferred

 - State of UT oil and gas industry air, water, and waste permitting/compliance experience preferred

 - Familiarity with regulatory requirements and ability to research them

 - Solid understanding of contaminant characteristics and transport mechanisms

 - Knowledgeable in environmental regulations applicable to the pipeline industry, including releases, air, water, waste, etc.
