Overview

We have an opening for an experienced Wellwork Engineer for long-term assignment in the Midland, TX area.

 

 

Our Client is an American energy company operating principally in the U.S. and Canada, that specializes in the drilling and production of unconventional oil and natural gas assets.  Our client has a reputation for efficient resource development, environmental stewardship and community involvement, with a drive to meet the growing challenges of the domestic natural gas industry.

Responsibilities

MAIN FUNCTIONS:

 - Prepare detailed workover engineering designs and coordinate all phases of planning and executing a workover on a well

 - Work closely with the rest of the integrated team to ensure Production, Geology, and Reservoir considerations are taken into account while assuring the highest standards of engineering integrity, safety, and environmental protection are applied to the well design and execution

 - Prepare designs representing the optimal costs and investments for the wells

 - Provide completion surveillance and engineering assessments / recommendations to Operations Superintendent on critical activities and issues

 - In a Technical role, provide review and support to well integrity designs and operations described in the main functions above, as well as evaluate and progress new technology

 

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 - Responsible for providing engineering support for workovers including the execution of proactive well re-entries, artificial lift repairs, low and high complexity fishing jobs, and plug and abandonment

 - Work in conjunction with safety, environmental, and field operations personnel to optimize safety performance

 - May act as interface/liaison engineer with joint venture partners, regulatory bodies, as well as service partners as needed

 - Identify opportunities for better application of workover technology to improve costs and timing

 - Prepare cost analyses, as well as track cost and time performance; partner with Production engineering to plan workover and ensure business objectives are met; participate in material and equipment selection and evaluation

Qualifications

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

 - BS degree in Engineering or related technical discipline

 - Broad and extensive knowledge of completions / wellwork design, downhole and surface production equipment, operations, industry standards and specifications. This could include subsea systems technology and Unconventional well integrity management

 - Strong personal effectiveness in leadership, communications, interpersonal skills, and teamwork

 - Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent changes in priorities

 - Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, as well as Spotfire or similar data analytics / visualization tool

 - Read, write, and speak fluent English, especially as it applies to technical and business communications
