Job Description
This is a Project Engineer position in the Facilities Engineering Surface Tech division – Design Team, a centralized group of design, technical, and engineering experts ready to partner with Permian Business Unit facilities engineers to address complex, high value opportunities and improve standard design performance.
Job Responsibilities
- Detail engineering design and drawing review of standard facility project deliverables (equipment lists, BOMs, P&IDs, ISOs, 3D model, plot plans, foundation plans, and electrical packages
- The successful candidate will team with XTO facilities and pipeline engineers, CAD drafters, 3D modelers, and Subject Matter Experts to develop and scale project deliverables
- Direct and manage project scope development from beginning to end
- Perform remote technical engineering support to 3D modelers and CAD drafters to ensure project requirements are communicated
Acts as liaison with BU project engineer and/or project manager with applicable internal groups (Procurement, Construction, Project Controls) and engages on project deliverables and gap identification of scope of work documents
- Use excellent communication skills in coordinating team members and in reporting to key stakeholders
- Monitor and implement Design Team best practices to accomplish rapid execution of design related tasks, with a focus on getting things accomplished in the fewest calendar days possible
- Active participant in project meetings (project kickoff, stakeholder alignment, status meetings, progress reviews)
- Monitors project status and pursues corrective action, as required in terms of schedules, priorities, and work quality
- Ensures that proper documentation, such as equipment specifications, design changes and procedures, is provided to the appropriate functional areas
- Engineering degree is required. Mechanical Engineering degree preferred
- Primary base location in Midland, TX.
- 3+ years’ experience in the oil & gas industry, petroleum refining and natural gas processing
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Computer literacy with thorough knowledge of Excel, Word, and MS Project is a must
