We are currently seeking an HSE Field Specialist for a long-term contract assignment with a leading onshore Production Operating and Midstream Services company with operations in/around Wright, Wyoming. 


The HSE Field Specialist will provide support to field operations to identify, evaluate, and mitigate health & safety risks. This job function is accomplished through partnerships created with site supervision to understand the work activities, performing qualitative and quantitative risk assessment, implement corporate and division safety initiatives, and drive compliance with corporate and regulatory standards.


Operations coverage includes Drilling, Completions, Facility & Pipeline Construction, Production & Maintenance, Water Transfer, Yard & Materials Management.



-  Partner with Operations daily on-site guidance and support related to the Safe Practices Manual, OSHA Regulations, API & IADC standards
-  Coach field supervision and workers (includes contractors) with hazard identification and implement the hierarchy of controls (barriers) with work activities
-  Participate in Job Safety Analysis (JSA) conversations, drive active discussions from all crew members to identify hazards collectively, and ensure controls are in place for each hazard.
-  Perform thorough on-site verifications to identify performance gaps related to regulatory requirements, internal safe practices, mechanical integrity issues, behavioral or cultural issues, or competency issues.
-  Develop and conduct training to develop safety competency within area of coverage
-  Perform contractor safety verifications to identify gaps within Vendor HSE Management Systems
-  Ensure periodic inspections are conducted for safety-related equipment
-  Conduct man-hour reporting and audits to ensure accurate man-hour recordkeeping


Communication and Influence:
-  Actively participate in Safety Team and Basin team meeting
-  Coordinate and facilitate basin safety meetings with relevant departments
-  Clarify HSE related questions and influence others to openly discuss operational hazards
-  Utilize risk management and hazard control methodologies to enable Operational Departments to adopt safety control measures into their daily operations
-  Display an optimistic and approachable attitude


Incident Response:
-  Serve as a primary role in the collection of the initial on-scene incident investigation data. Assist the line in securing the scene and in the collection of the initial information immediately following an incident.
-  Assist the line and on-scene personnel in emergency situations. Actively participate, support, and provide guidance during tactical emergency response efforts.
-  Serve in the assigned tactical response role and participate in training and drills. Support the line in the development of drill scenarios for assigned area of operation.
-  Maintain involvement after injuries and illness to support case management for Client personnel and contractors


Optimize, Learn, & Share:

- Maintain log of identified hazards and risks to discuss and elevate to Safety Manager
- Share lessons learned in area of assigned operations
-  Coordinate Incident Review with contractors and local supervision
-  Promote ideas for efficiency through use of technology or synergies with other departments such as iS&E tools


Performance Measures:

-  Site visits leading to identification of hazards or risks to elevate within the organization
-  Provide ideas for solutions to the team to resolve hazards
-  Perform investigations leading to root causes and offer actions that achieve the highest level of hierarchy of controls
-  Assist with training efforts within area of operation
-  Identify areas of improvement within field operations as it relates to safety competency or safety culture


- A minimum of 5-10 years of on the job experience with five years’ experience working in a oil and gas industry field are required. 

- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree required or the equivalent years of experience in lieu of the degree (four years in addition to the experience requirement) are required. 

- Depending on location, specialized training in Hazmat; Certifications in CSP, CIH, Hazard Assessment, Workers Compensation, and HAZWOPER are preferred. Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) experience would help also

- Intermediate knowledge of occupational safety and industrial hygiene, and ability to apply this knowledge.

- Understanding of Safety Practices basics and application of Safety Policies, and Procedures for field activities. 
- Specialized knowledge and ability to understand and interpret OSHA regulations as it applies to the Oil & Gas Industry.

- Advanced reading and writing skills and the ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel,Powerpoint and Outlook.

- Demonstrated ability to stand firm on doing the job safe if challenged, but act in a diplomatic manner.

- Ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication.
